So, at the Flea Market sunday there was this guy selling Amazon returns. He had this replacement sewing machine motor for 10 bucks. Bought it and it works, but it was a return, go figure? I have been wanting one to see the good and bad about them. And for 10 bucks, I'm in! It's a 550w motor. No manual, first thing I need to get. I have a few mirco machines that could benefit from this kinda motor. First thing I noticed, it's not easy/convenient to forward and reverse, but it can be done. Looks like another spring time project.

For 20 bucks I would'a tried it also.  :smiley_slobber:   what'cha gonna try it on first?  I gotta feeling you might move it from one machine to another...

I almost bought one of those a few years ago to put on my lathe, but it did not have an electronic speed control. I considered it, but decided to go with a 3 phase motor and VFD instead. I have the VFD and the motor, but need to get all the stuff that goes with it like an enclosure, fan, push buttons, etc. to make the entire thing and get it working.

So many projects, so little time!

As for the one that you purchased, 550 watts is nothing to sneeze at, it works out to be just a hair shy of 3/4 HP.

The nameplate says 550w. But that could be a translation error into the English language, lol. If it really is 550w-3/4hp, it sure is a lot of power from a tiny/small package. And would be plenty of HP for my micro machine applications.
