I would like to see a calendar added to the site for people to post events like the Indiana Model Engine show Propforward posted about.
If there's an add-on available for a calendar with alerts/notifications that users could set for reminders, that would be even better.

Not a bad idea. I will see what is available.

A calendar was already a part of the SMF forum software and it has now been enabled. I have not had any time to mess around with it just yet, but it is now available on the menu bar. All members can view it, add events, and edit events that they create. Staff members can edit any event. Guests cannot see the calendar at all, but that can be changed if need be.

My mistake -  the emails and alerts are the same ones that you can enable for any thread in the forum. So, if someone adds something to the thread associated with the calendar event, you will get notification about it. It will NOT send you a reminder about an event at a time beforehand that you can customize. Guess I will need to take a look for an add-on that will give a little more functionality.
