Welcome to Home Machinist's Journal, our replacement for Machinist Gazette. We would have preferred to keep the old place going, but doing so was not a possibility and any chance of that was out of our hands. We also had to come up with a new name due to the Machinist Gazette domain name still being tied up. Due to this place being quite new, some changes are still being made and this document may need to be edited from time to time to reflect those changes.

We do have a classifieds area that only members with 5 posts or more can access and post to. Last but not least, there is a section where we post forum costs and donations, but it is also visible only to members.

We have a downloads section as well; it is available only to members who have 5 posts or more.  Our new forum also has the ability to create and post articles. If you wish to write about the steps required to sharpen a drill bit freehand for example, by all means write it up and we will set it up as an article. Articles are meant to be read and not replied to; however a separate post could be created for discussion.

NEW MEMBERS: We do REQUIRE you to post an introduction in the Welcome Center. Please start a new thread with your post and tell us a little about yourself. I don't think it is too much to ask when membership costs nothing. Ignoring this requirement may get your account locked out or restricted until you post your introduction.

If you choose to post photos in some of your posts, you are more than welcome to do so, but we ask that you take steps to watermark your photos before you post them. Doing so marks the photos as being YOURS. They are your creation, and we don't want anyone else stealing your hard work and claiming it as their own somewhere else.

One last thing that is new: New members are required to answer the security questions before posting or using Private Messages every time, but only until reaching a post count of 2. Your Intro message is one and it shouldn't be too hard to find another thread to comment on, getting your count up to 2. New members cannot access the Classifieds section or downloads section until 5 posts have been done. This is all due to our efforts to keep spammers out of our forum. They generally will not put forth the effort to create five posts just to be able to access the for-sale forum or anything like that. We hope that you will be supportive of our efforts to keep the riff raff out of here.

Please visit our Welcome Center to post your intro message and while you are there it may be a good idea to review our very short list of rules.
