I started a thread back on the old forum about picking up a old Brown & Sharpe No. 2 universal dividing head about two years ago.
It's came to me pretty much stripped of any index plates, index fingers, indexer plunger.  Also, none of the differential gearing was with the DH.
So far, I've picked up a set of index plates, made a couple of special flat head screws to secure the index plates to the DH. They are special, 7/32-32 thread. I've drawn up all of the necessary gears needed for doing all of the differential indexing, the special shaft the that goes into the spindle, all of the brackets for mounting the gearing on the back end of the DH.  Also made a couple of threaded back plates, one for a 3-jaw chuck I bought to use with the DH.
Currently, I'm working on the index fingers for the DH now.  Here's some pictures of my progress on them.

Pictures will be posted soon

Got the other half milled out tonight. I almost took the material off the wrong side of the part. The two halves fit together like they should. Still have a bevel to cut on them and drill and tap a hole for a screw that is used to hold the two halves in place for indexing. After that, some edges and features that need some blending in and edges needing deburring. After this is done, start work on the index plunger.

pictures as soon as I figure out this add in

So far you will need to get them down to 2MB or less before you can attach them. After that the software will reduce it down a bit further to fit our requirements. It will take a bit of fiddling yet to get it all balanced out.

It's been a while since I posted my progress on the dividing head. I finished the index fingers, now working on the index arm and plunger. Have to take a break from it and get ready for the hurricane that's fixing to hit here. So enjoy.  Ken :smiley_newcoffee:

It's finished! Got the rest of this index arm finished and installed.  Next thing on the list is building the differential indexing attachment for the dividing head.  The attachment will allow you to index divisions like 127 and such.  You can look in the MAchinerys Handbook under the B & S dividing head division tables.  Must look in the older MH prior to the 26th edition I believe it is.
