Members can attach some types of files to their posts. The following types of files may be attached:

  • MS-Word -  doc or docx
  • MS Excel -  xls or xlsx
  • Adobe Acrobat -  pdf
  • Text files -  txt
  • CAD drawings - dxf
  • Video files - mpg
  • Compressed files -  zip
  • Graphic or photos -  jpg, gif, png

Other file types can be added - please contact staff to have the list modified.

  • Create your thread. Be sure to give it a subject line or title and select a message icon if you so choose.
  • Enter all of the text you want in your post. Add formatting and such, but do not yet attach any files.
  • After your thread is created, do yourself a favor and SAVE THE POST. This way the post is created, and text will not get lost if an error occurs when attempting to attach a file.
  • Go back to your published post and in the lower right corner you will see "Quick Edit" and "More".  Hover the mouse over "More" then select "Modify".  Keep in mind that you can only edit your post for a period of 3 hours once it is created. After that time you need to contact a moderator to assist you with making modifications to your post.
  • Add a reason for editing your post in the box provided, such as "Add files".
  • Click on the large button that says "Click or drag files here to attach them."
  • A file manager window opens. Here you can navigate to the file(s) you want to attach. Click on one file, then click on "Open". That file is then uploaded to the forum server. A bar graph shows how much of the available room your file will use.
  • Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each file you wish to attach.
  • Once you have attached your files, click on the "Save" button in the lower right corner.
  • Go back and review your post to be sure that your changes have taken place the way you wanted them.

There are some points to consider when attaching photos:
  • Each file may only be a maximum of 6144 KB in size.
  • The total of your files or other attachments may not exceed 6144 KB on one post.
  • The maximum number of attachments per post is 6. This limit can be reached only if the attachments are small enough.
  • If you have more than 6 files to attach, or if they are too large, you will need to create more than one post.
  • Keep in mind that each and every file takes up space on the server. Please attach pertinent files but omit duplicates or files that do not really add anything to the worthiness of the post.
  • If your attachments are too large, the process will FAIL and any changes made will be lost. This is why we SAVE THE POST then come back to edit it before we add the files or make other changes.
  • Attached files will appear at the bottom of the post and are not embedded within the post itself. Thus you cannot add text, then add a file or photo, then add more text below it.
