On Saturday my wife and I participated in a lung disease benefit run in memory of our son. Some of these people never even knew him. A family friend took the photo from the back of my bike and she was kind enough to share the photo. My wife is on the trike directly in front of us and there were 15 to 20 bikes behind us. As near as we can figure there were about 60 bikes on this ride.

I don't run this benefit, so I don't know just how much money was raised. We should hear a final tally in the next couple of days once all expenses have been covered.

The second pic is of some of the group at our last stop. Quite a few riders cut out just after the stop prior to this one, so we are missing quite a few in the group photo. Three of the riders rode 130 miles from Iowa to get here.

Anyway, events like this always help to restore my faith in mankind.

Born in the 50's, grew up in the 70's, now in my 60's, hope I make it to my 80's.

My dad was a member of a group called "The Christian Riders". His best friend was the chapter president. I recall many memories from my childhood of rides and events. Often mixed with some of the more unruly clubs, but my dad's group were good dudes, none the less.

One of my favorite events was the slowest bike race with a passenger (I cleaned the name up a bit as I was probably 6-7 y.o. at the time)
Good times with my ol' man. He passed in 2007.
