Yup. A 4" disc of mild steel, 1.5" thick will run you about $30 give or take.  Far more expensive than the arbor press!

Got this Dake arbor press today for 10 bucks. Needs a bath and a daisy wheel. Guess I could use it for smashing something LOL. And I bet you buying a 4" steel disc to make the daisy wheel will cost more than what I paid for the press!

Sorry for you and your families loss Terry.  I'm not on here often and just saw your post.  Dogs are such beautiful loyal creatures they steal our hearts and bring us joy.   The pictures of her are beautiful. I can see her spirit.

Welcome aboard Brino!  Great to see you here!  We're not always the most active as forums go, but in some ways it is nice to have a little quiet in between periods of activity and discussion.

Hello everyone!

I am a weekend machinist and DIY'er.

Machining, welding, electrical, plumbing, automotive, I tackle it all with enthusiasm and grit that I know what I am doing!

Then often do it again to get it right.

I have a handy dandy spread sheet that calculates a the thread information needed for cutting threads. It calculates the OD range for a given thread.
I'll try to post it here.

Terry, you may want to post the file somewhere else on the forum.

One thing to remember on "vee" threads, my program is only set up for calculating class 2 threads.  it would be real easy to create a new tab for calculating class 3 threads.  Just everything I work with is class 2 threads.

Can anybody tell me what this thing is? No name, no nothing on it. If it's shop made, it was extremely well done. Maybe some kinda lady leg calipers? Found it over the weekend.

I hear yah. For a while now I have not made anything in my Hobby Shop for someone else and never for NASA...lol. And I do not miss the challenge at all! No more blueprints. No more ridiculous specs! And for topic, no more thread gages! Today/now I might use a hardware store nut to check or just make the threads screw together. If I start with a nominal size OD and single point thread it. It might have a burr at the top of the thread and if I kiss it with a file, the burr is gone and the OD is now tad under. That's my life now in my Hobby Shop, but I hear yah!
