Title: Machinist Personalities
Post by: Piggiron on Apr 27, 2024, 09:04 AM
Wondering who your favorite machinist personality on the internet is and the link to their website and/or video channel ?

I like many, but I'd say my favorite is Joe Pieczynski (aka Joe Pie) of Advanced Innovations.

Maybe some motivated member will make a list for people to use as a reference.

I enjoy Stephan Gotteswinter,
Robin renzetti when I really want to get into the weeds of sub-micron machining/lapping.
Tom Lipton - OxToolCo. His older videos are quite interesting, he's been rather slow the past few years.
Everyone loves CEE - cutting edge engineering.
Chris from Clickspring if you enjoy watch/clock/mechanism making.
David Richards for 1920's steam machine shop.

A bit more obscure channels;
Chris Maj.
Cà Lem.
JamesPark_85 machining
Rustinox

Of course Keith Fenner, MrPete222 Tubalcane, Keith Rucker from vintage machinery.com, Adam Booth Abom79, ThisOldTony, Shadon HKW, Solid rock machine shop.

For CNC, I also enjoy NYC-CNC (https://www.youtube.com/@nyccnc (https://www.youtube.com/@nyccnc)).

I don't have or use CNC equipment as of yet, but like his channel. He does have some videos featuring Paul Debolt of Debolt Machine in Zanesville, OH that discusses and shows manual machines and operations. I especially liked his "Speed and Feeds" video demo.

Paul specializes in the manufacture of limited edition working models and engines. He has a website (https://www.deboltmachine.com/) where he sells them along with material and tooling used to make them.

Joe Pie
Josh Topper (Topper Machine)
Max Grant of Swan Valley Machine.

Those guys really know what they are about. I've had some good direct interaction with Joe Pie and Josh Topper.

If I'm gonna stream anything it's more likely to be a spaghetti western than a machine tool video. However....

Joe Pie
Mr. Pete

I agree with Daryl on the spaghetti westerns, but add in John Wayne just because, well, it's John Wayne!!

As for shop videos, I have three different categories that I like, with different people in each.

Machine Shop Videos:
Joe Pie
Lyle Peterson
Blondihacks
Stuart's Shednanigans
Myfordboy

General Shop and Wood Shop Videos:
Stumpy Nubs
This Old Tony

And if I'm looking for something a little more irreverent:
Ave

Yep, if you don't like the Duke, you ain't American IMHO.
Uh-oh, hope this doesn't spin off into a John Wayne favorite film thread.

The Shootist was damn good, but I still think True Grit was the best one.

True Grit was my second choice.
