Got a pile of 9" South Bend lathe stuff today. Not a complete lathe just random from like the milling attachment to tailstock and whatever in between. In the pile was a Union 3 jaw chuck. Upon closer inspection this thing has three independent jaws as well as the scroll? Has anyone seen this feature before?

Wow! That seems rather odd, but I suppose it might be an early form of an adjust-true chuck.
I've never seen a 3-jaw before. Seen many 4-jaw ones over the years. I think the Adjuster True chucks replaced this Union Chuck. If you decide not to keep it, I maybe interested in buying it from you, like I need another lathe chuck. :smiley_chinrub:
Thank you for your interest, Ken. I'm always doing odd ball projects in my Hobby Shop. In the past, I have shimmed up one of the jaws in a standard 3jaw to get off-set. Maybe this Union chuck will come in handy? Maybe even take one jaw and turn it around? It could open-up more capabilities. So, for now, I would like to add it to my piles...Dave
But, I do have some South Bend 9" lathe random items that I don't have any use for.
So what might some of those items be? I don't have a South Bend, but there are some items that interchange very well between South Bends and Logans. With that thought in mind, one never knows what I might nibble on.
Sorry, been very busy with just day to day. Like, I broke a BIG double pane window shooting a rock at it with a weed eater...SH**.

Just looking at the stuff in the mike crates, that's a nice lathe! You have the milling attachment, too. :smiley_slobber:
Just got back from vacation, and I have to agree with Ken, you have some SB stuff there in nice condition!
