I have the following books that I have lent out in the past. They are still available new from Amazon as of this writing for $80 for the pair. Keep in mind that they were published in 1981 and reflect the technology of that era. Despite the material being almost 45 years old, these books are very good for beginning hobby machinists as they do a great job of explaining just how metal machining works at a basic level and especially for manual machine operations. In my opinion these two books are just as important in the shop as Machinery's Handbook and every hobby machinist should own a copy of both volumes.
Due to their cost to replace if not returned, I prefer to not lend them out any longer. I am willing to scan sections of interest and send the scans electronically to any member here. I offer these scans for members to peruse so that budding hobby machinists can determine whether or not they wish to plunk down the cash for their own copies or not. I will not scan an entire section of the book, but I will scan 3- or 4-page sections as chosen by someone who is interested. In this way I should be able to avoid copyright issues as I would be sharing snippets for educational purposes and encouraging purchase by other individuals. I fully respect the hard work that authors put into such books and would rather help them sell more copies if I can.
