Title: Shop Tooling
Post by: 4GSR on Nov 13, 2024, 03:30 PM
Terry,

How about a thread for "Shop Tooling & Fixturing"?

I was wanting to show some of the things I have acquired here recently and we really don't have a catagory for such.

Go for it.  I'm not sure if a specific thread is called for but "we're" still small and the conversation is always a winner. imho....  Besides I'm always absorbing information, so I'd welcome the knowledge share

Sure thing, Ken. We do have one for Shop Made Tooling already. Maybe I should just add the fixturing part to it?  Rename it to "Shop Made Tooling and Fixturing".  What do you think?

Well, what about store bought tooling? We like to show off?

That could go here too, I don't think anyone would mind. I just don't want to end up with so many categories that it all becomes cluttered and overly grandiose. But I will come back to it next weekend when I have a little more time, maybe we can figure something out.

What if it was named "Tooling & Fixturing" ?   then it wouldn't matter if it was shop made or store bought.

I looked it over and believe I will leave the current "Shop made tooling" where it is in the Machining projects area and add fixtures to it.

I will then create a separate subforum for purchased tooling and fixtures in the "Our Shops" area.

Shop made tooling as a machining project is far different from tooling that we purchase, thus it should have its own forum.

Thanks for bringing it up, Ken!!  I will be home tomorrow evening and will make the necessary changes then.

Terry,

As always, thank you for doing so and providing this forum to those of us play on and show off things we have and do.

All done guys. Sorry it took as long as it did. Turned out to be one hell of a week with barely time to catch my breath.
