Title: New Add-on installed for attachments
Post by: TerryWerm on Jun 04, 2024, 06:48 AM
Just a heads up everyone. I installed a new add-on that automatically rotates and resizes image files that you attach to your posts or PMs. I have not had time to test it myself, so keep an eye on it and feel free to let me know if you guys love it, hate it, or something in between. Hopefully it does not (it should not) mess with attachments that are not image files.

Oh - Keep in mind that if you attach a png or gif image file, or format other than jpg, it will automatically convert it to a jpg file.

I tried attaching a test file here just for my own curiosity and it did not work. So.... I may have to mess with the settings later. I will post more details once I have reviewed the documentation and settings further. In the meantime, you will still need to manually resize your photos to get them below the 1 MB size limit.

Terry, just playing around testing image upload.
Feel free to delete "The Supervisor" post and image, if you wish.

I assume it resized from something larger than 1 MB?

Yep, 855 KB. I tried a larger pic, but it wouldn't upload due to file size restrictions.

So it was 855 kb when you uploaded it, and the resizer reduced it to 377, correct?

If that is the case, then we can increase the allowed attachment size to 2 MB if we want and it will always get resized to something smaller.

Yes, the file I uploaded was 855 kb. I didn't check or notice the size after upload.
